Grace Smith House
From the Grace Smith House web site:

“Grace Smith House has been providing services to victims of domestic abuse and their children since 1981. In its first 20 years, the agency sheltered over 2,300 women and more than 1,800 children. These numbers do not include the many thousands of hotline callers who have received counseling and support from committed agency staff through the years.”

Grace Smith House operates Brookhaven Apartments to provide safe temporary housing for victims of domestic abuse.

FPUPC and Grace Smith House

Each year at Christmastime, members of the FPUPC Mission Committee solicits Christmas gift requests from those who are currently residing at Brookhaven Apartments. Each request is then written on a small tag and these tags are then hung on the Brookhaven Christmas Tree at the church.

The FPUPC community is then encouraged to take a tag from the tree and donate the gift requested on the tag. The donated gifts are then delivered to the residents of Brookhaven apartments on the Sunday before Christmas in the hope of making their Christmas season a little brighter.
Grace Smith House was originally founded by the First Presbyterian Church of Poughkeepsie, which of one of the parent churches of Freedom Plains United Presbyterian.
