The School of Sacred Music
Mommy and Me Chimes
Introduce your child to the joy of music through chime and handbell ringing. This class is for 4, 5, 6 year olds and their parents (grandparents and guardians welcome, too). Beginning reading skills will be taught along with note values and rhythmic concepts. Class meets half an hour a week for four weeks and ends with playing at the Sunday church service at 10 AM. As children and adults play together, every child should be accompanied by an adult (special circumstances such as siblings at the teacher’s discretion).
Have fun learning to ring handbells in a stress-free environment. This class is for children (grade six and up) and adults. Music reading is not necessary but is helpful. Handbell techniques, ringing basics, and music reading skills will be taught. Class meets one hour a week for five weeks and ends with playing at the Sunday church service at 10 AM.
Beginning Recorder Ensemble
Learn to play the recorder or brush up on your playing. This class is for older beginners (grade 4 and up) and adults. Fundamental music reading skills are needed. We will work towards learning the fourteen most basic notes along with a variety of time signatures, note values, and other musical concepts. Soprano, alto, tenor, and bass recorders will be played. All instruments will be provided.
Class meets one hour a week for five weeks and ends with playing at the Sunday church service at 10 AM.
